Our Story

Nineteen years ago, we began as Mary's of Course located on Brookstown Avenue. In 2010, we moved to Trade Street and adopted the name Mary's Gourmet Diner. Our mission is to create an atmosphere embodying the hip and artsy vibes of downtown Winston while serving creative American classics from local ingredients. Each time you come in you'll find different specials on our board from Unicorn French Toast to Texas Pete benedicts. You'll also get a great view of Jason Blevin's interpretation of the Garden of Eden and other unique pieces of art.

"Local" isn't just a buzz word for us. We are dedicated to serving as much local product as possible. This commitment to sustainability and community has fostered many great partnerships.

Meet Mary and Mike

Mary Haglund began living out her dream of opening a restaurant in 2000. She has since dedicated herself to creating an inclusive atmosphere within Mary's and solidifying deep roots in the city she loves so much. She is now excited to be a grandmother and loves stopping by the restaurant to interact with customers and make new friends.

Mike Millan is originally from Miami and moved to Winston 10 years ago when he first became acquainted with Mary's as a regular customer. He is known for his food truck, Mojitos, which serves authentic Cuban cuisine, but recently joined as Mary's partner. He has loved it so far and has big goals for the future.
